A modern city suddenly manifests in Spain, bringing with it magical creatures such as dragons. It begins in 853 AD, in an alternate timeline. We have covered the plot of Drag-on Dragoon 3 and Drag-on Dragoon in a whole lot of detail, but let’s quickly recap. and I suspect he’s the artist for most or all of these images, but I can’t confirm! Drag-on Dragand Drag-on Dragoon/ Drakengard, 2003 The main character designer for the game is known as D.K. The illustrations in this article are official art, from Grimoire NieR via the Nier wiki. However, fans have done an incredible job making up for the lack, and there are only a few significant gaps. The vast majority of NieR content has never been officially translated, which is unfortunate because the game leaves out a lot of key plot information covered in books like Grimoire NieR. You may want to read previous articles on DoD3 and DoD1. I began in 2018, abandoned the effort for two years, and then came back to it. I would still recommend to actually *play* Nier, as it's one of the best stories told in video gaming (in my humble opinion), but if you're not gonna bother, you don't really need to catch up on the lore either. Especially since Drakengard 3 came out after Nier. There were clearly people within the Drakenier community hoping this would be the game to tie it all together in a big way (including myself, honestly). That video was completely unnecessary and only serves to make things way more confusing than they need to be. (That forum post about Nier Automata coming to Steam is like six months old, isn't I've completely beaten the game now as well (endings ABCDE) and I'm inclined to agree. I wonder if there's a summary of this story that just says what happened in the current plot of each game. Metal Gear and Kingdom Hearts' crazy parts kinda seem like the same thing, a bunch of retcons to make each new, made up on the fly-game fit with the one before it, and prequels that add to the backstory in unnecessary ways. It just sounds like background bullshit that has little to do with what actually happens in the game. They wouldn't be so confusing if everyone weren't reincarnations, clones, transplanted souls, self-aware soulless bodies, heartlesses, personifications, manifestations and ghosts.ĭrakengard 3 is especially bizarre, as is the super long description of the plague in Nier.

Kingdom Hearts, Metal Gear and Nier/Drakengard should clearly have some sort of Mexican standoff. I watched that video too, and I might be more confused now than before.
